Differential Thermostat

General Description

RENE1, the new Pump Control Unit for solar water circulation system with anti freeze recognition.

RENE1 can control any hot water circulation system (with an AC pump up to 6 Amperes).

-  IT works with open or closed-loop systems.

-  IT intended for operation in difficult conditions and is designed for outdoor installation.

-  The unit uses the local electricity network power and can work with 220-240 Volt AC.

-  The power to the Pump goes through a relay contact that is controlled by the unit.

RENE1 achieves the reflected temperature signals that are sensed by three thermostats.

Two sensors are placed in the last collector output water pipe (inside sensor metal housing),

The first one (2 wires) is connected to the “COLT” port.

The second one (2 wires) is connected to the “ANTI FREEZE” port.

A third sensor placed in the last tank output water pipe (inside sensor metal housing), is connected (2 wires) to the “TANK” port.

RENE1 provides ultimate pump operation power control by monitoring the signals differentiation (water temperature) that come from the two sensors that are connected to the unit in the “COLT” & “TANK” ports.

RENE1 includes an “ANTI FREEZE” module that divides to two sub modules: internal and external (chooses by on board switch). The external module is used to monitor the collector output water temperature and the internal module is used to monitor the environmental temperature (for outdoor installation). Both modules operate the pump in low temperature in order to prevent a collector’s water from freezing.

This external monitoring module entry is marked on the unit as the “ANTI FREEZE”.

This internal monitoring module can monitor (by on board switch) 1 or 3 °C of the environmental temperature.

Important:

  • Connect one of the sensors that are placed in the last collector output water pipe (2 wires) to “ANTI FREEZE” unit port in order to use this function and monitoring the collector output water temperature.
  • Connecting a short circuit wire to “ANTI FREEZE” unit port will neutralize and cancel the “ANTI FREEZE” function (the unit comes with a short circuit wire on this port as default).

RENE1 Operation Principle

A RENE1- Pump Control Unit that has the collector & tank connected sensors (“COLT” & “TANK”) continually monitors the water temperature and analyses the reflected signals to control the pump operation power.

When the reflected temperature in the collector output water pipe will be higher

4-8°C from the reflected temperature in the tank output water pipe, the unit will power the pump power by switching on the internal relay. This act will allow hot water flow from the collectors to the tanks.

When the reflected temperature in the collector output water pipe will be lower

2-4°C from the reflected temperature in the tank output water pipe. The unit will cut off the pump power by switching off the internal relay. This act will cause a stop of the hot water flow from the collectors to the tanks.

“ANTI FREEZE” Operation Principle

When choosing to work only with the external module than When the reflected temperature in the collector output water pipe will be between 2.7-3.3°C the unit will power on the FREEZE LED and pump power by switching on the internal relay. This act will allow water flow in the system and will prevent water from freezing.

When choosing to work with both sub modules and the internal module switch to 3°C than When the environmental temperature and the reflected temperature in the collector output water pipe will be between 2.7-3.3°C the unit will power on the FREEZE LED and pump power by switching on the internal relay.

When choosing to work with both sub modules and the internal module switch to 1°C than When the reflected temperature in the collector output water pipe will be between 2.7-3.3°C the unit will power on the FREEZE LED and after the environmental temperature will be between 1.0-1.6°C the unit will power on the pump power by switching on the internal relay. This act will allow water flow in the system and will prevent water from freezing.

When the internal module switch to 1°C and the environmental temperature will raise between 3.2-3.8°C the unit will turn off the pump power by switching off the internal relay.

When the internal module switch to 3°C and the environmental temperature will raise between 4.6-5.3°C the unit will turn off the pump power by switching off the internal relay.

When choosing to work only with the external module than when the reflected temperature in the collector output water pipe will raise between 4.6-5.3°Cthe unit will turn off FREEZE LED and the pump power by switching off the internal relay. This act will cause to a stop of the water flow in the system.
